Tips For Dealing With Panic Attacks

One of the first steps when trying to eliminate your panic attacks is to take into consideration all of the thoughts are going through your mind.

Some of the best tips for panic attacks revolve around the "self-talk" that you have in your life. The attacks usually begin when you're speaking to yourself in a negative way, especially when your thoughts consist of depressing and scary ideas.

When you're on the verge of having a panic attack, it's very hard to think with a clear head, so if you can keep your methods for helping very simple, you will have more success with it.

Here are a few tips for dealing with panic attacks on the spot.

Tip #1 – Be aware of your inner self talk

The way you speak with yourself and how you think about things can have a big effect on your likelihood of having a panic attack. One of the best tips I can give you is to always be aware of your thoughts.

If you are focusing on things that would cause an attack in the first place, then you should immediately focus your attention on something else. For example, if you are in a large group of people and you think that it may cause you to have a panic attack then try to shift your focus from the large group of people surrounding you to something happier or being at peace with yourself. However, it's easier to say than do, but with persistent practice, this tip for dealing with panic attacks will work with time.

Tip #2 – Focus completely on your breathing

Always remember to slow your breathing, because your breath coordinates with your mind and you will see change come from it. Try breathing in this fashion – Breathe in with the count and 7 and breathe out with the count of 11. After a few minutes you will feel better and have hopefully avoided having another panic attack.

Tip #3 – Know the symptoms of panic attacks

You should definitely be familiar with the various panic attack symptoms so that when you see yourself experiencing any of them you can take immediate action before it is a problem. Tip #4 – Talk to yourself in a positive way

Believe it or not, just by telling yourself positive things such as, "I feel fine and I will be ok", actually does help. Your mind is a very powerful thing and just by suggesting various things like this do have an effect on how you feel and react to whatever situation you may be in.
